Rubio has challenged Zelensky’s statements regarding U.S. requests. The word “lie” is being used in connection with the situation.

State Secretary Marco Rubio strongly refuted claims made by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky regarding U.S. demands. Zelenskyy had previously asserted in an interview that the United States was pushing Ukraine to concede the eastern Donbas region of Russia prior to receiving final security assurances following the conflict.

“That is a falsehood,” Rubio declared to reporters when addressing Zelenskyy’s statements. He expressed regret about Zelensky’s comments, emphasizing their inaccuracy. Rubio made these remarks in Paris after participating in discussions with the G7.

“What was conveyed to him was clear: security guarantees will not come into effect until a war is over,” Rubio explained. The Secretary clarified that the issue was not connected to relinquishing territory. “That was not related to it, unless he himself withdraws from the territory,” Rubio added.

He questioned the rationale behind Zelenskyy’s assertions about the situation. Rubio’s comments focused on the understanding that the security guarantees hinged on the conclusion of hostilities.
