Petrozavodsk Man Arrested Following Military Recruitment Scheme
A 33-year-old man, identified as Kur Egor Sabiniq, was arrested in Petrozavodsk, a city in the Russian Federation, and subsequently taken to a detoxification center. He was initially released on bail but was later detained at a police station and subsequently transferred to a detention center. Sabiniq admitted to being in the military mobilization office.
He is a father of four children. Police apprehended him while reportedly intoxicated and he signed a military contract without full understanding. Following the arrest, authorities presented Sabiniq with a choice: meet with a recruiter for the military command or face imprisonment.
The incident has raised concerns among Russian human rights organizations regarding a growing trend of intoxicated men being coerced or manipulated into signing military contracts. Reports indicate that some recruiters are employing deceptive tactics, such as physically guiding individuals to sign documents or using manipulative methods to secure agreements. The Europaelire report details these concerning practices.
