Kyiv Under Attack Following Ceasefire Violation
Kyiv experienced an escalation in hostilities early this morning following the termination of a ceasefire agreement. According to Timur Tkachenko, head of the Ukrainian capital’s military command, Russian air strikes were underway. Tkachenko announced the developments via Telegram, stating that unmanned aerial vehicles, lacking human pilots, were operating over Kyiv.
The alert marked the first such warning in Kyiv since May 8th. The incident followed the declaration of a ceasefire by former US President Donald Trump on Saturday. This ceasefire was immediately followed by accusations of violations from both Ukrainian and Russian forces.
A drone reportedly crashed into a building in the Obolonskyi district, further contributing to the alarm. Tkachenko advised residents to remain in shelters and anticipate potential noise. The situation remains fluid as Ukrainian authorities respond to the ongoing attacks following the breakdown of the ceasefire.
Further updates will be provided as they become available.
