Sejdziu: Agencies are not fulfilling their role so that citizens feel the hand of the state.

Officials Cite Agency Performance Issues, Advocate for Centralized Reform

Pristina – Edmir Sejdiu, Director of the Department for Public Administration Reform at the Ministry of Public Administration and Civil Society (MAPD), has expressed concerns regarding the performance of government agencies, stating they are not fulfilling their intended roles, leading to a perceived lack of state presence for citizens. Speaking within the “Tempus” program, Sejdiu emphasized the need for comprehensive training initiatives for public administration officials. He highlighted the importance of a centralized reform strategy to address systemic challenges within the sector.

Regarding the establishment of the Ministry of Public Administration, Sejdiu acknowledged a delay, stating, “It is late, it could have been done earlier, but it is a good momentum for the establishment of this ministry.”

Kosovo is actively participating in regional initiatives, including the regional school for public administration, to bolster training and capacity within the sector. The Ministry’s creation represents a key step in aligning the country with broader regional efforts. Sejdiu’s comments underscore the ongoing efforts to improve the responsiveness and effectiveness of agencies and strengthen the overall public administration system.
