Kosovar officials are raising concerns regarding the legality and legitimacy of the Kosovo Association of Municipalities’ elected bodies. Elbert Krasniqi, chairman of the Ministry of Local Government and Public Administration, and head of the Kosovo Association of Municipalities, stated that today’s meeting has generated serious questions. The Association’s primary function is to oversee and manage the municipalities, ensuring they maintain legal and financial independence.
Krasniqi emphasized the importance of this role. The organization’s existence stems from the dissolution of the Kosovo Association of Municipalities in 2008, with the current body considered its legal successor. The meeting has prompted scrutiny of the association’s operational status and its adherence to established legal frameworks.
