Side streets pose a threat to residents of Kumanova.

Concerns Rise Over Increasing Dog Population in Kumanova

Kumanova residents are expressing growing concern over the prevalence of stray dogs within the city center and surrounding areas. Reports indicate a significant increase in the number of dogs, with sightings documented on sidewalks, in the courtyard of the General Hospital, and the Rapid Response Center courtyard. Multiple residents have described daily encounters with the animals.

“There are over 30 dogs alone in Lozani,” one resident stated. “The municipality should collect them, like in Likove, where there are many dogs everywhere.”

The issue appears linked to a perceived influx of dogs originating from Serbia. “They are released from Serbia, brought in trucks up to the borders, and released for corners,” a resident near the border reported.

“This is very damaging.”

Concerns have also been raised regarding public safety, with several residents reporting attacks. “Five days ago, they attacked my daughter down there,” one resident stated. The situation is particularly noticeable around the General Hospital, where dogs are frequently observed.

“The situation with the dogs in Kumanova is serious, here is one, here are others everywhere, all along the hospital,” a witness noted. The cause of the increased population remains a point of discussion, with residents suggesting a need for municipal action to manage the situation.
