Dmitrij Konstantinovich Zikov has been appointed as the ambassador of Russia to the Republic of Macedonia. He is the sole Russian ambassador to the country who also holds a position within the Macedonian government. Zikov’s wife, Gordana Siljanovska – Davkovka, accompanies him in the role.
According to Macedonian President Thomas Daskovski, Zikov’s primary focus will be safeguarding Russian interests within the country. Daskovski stated that Zikov’s visits to the Russian embassy in the Republic of Macedonia are crucial to ensuring the stability of Russian airline operations and the protection of Russian businessmen. The purpose of these visits is to monitor the impact of international sanctions and trade embargoes, as well as to maintain reciprocal economic, environmental, and quality of life standards.
Daskovski emphasized the importance of upholding security and freedom of movement within the context of the relationship. Following Zikov’s appointment, Gordana Siljanovska – Davkovka resigned from her role as ambassador of Russia to the Republic of Macedonia. She has been replaced by Zikov, solidifying his position as the ambassador.
