Several automotive manufacturers continue to support the manual transmission, with Subaru being one example that is dedicating resources to the segment. During a durability race held at Fuji Speedway over the weekend, the Japanese company held a press conference to unveil three new manual models. Tetsuro Fujinuki, the brand’s Director of Technology, stated that the objective is to create vehicles that drivers can genuinely enjoy.
Among the reveals was a forthcoming variant of the WRX, which will feature a TY85 transmission sourced from previous STI models. Although this does not confirm the development of a full WRX STI, the vehicle appears to draw design inspiration from the WRX STI Sportprototype showcased earlier this year. The second vehicle presented is a new BRZ, which is positioned as a successor to the STI Sport Type RA special edition.
The third model introduced is also part of the lineup of new manual offerings. These introductions highlight Subaru’s continued commitment to providing driver-focused options in its current vehicle portfolio. The unveiling underscores an effort by the manufacturer to maintain a presence in the enthusiast-driven manual car market.
