Surroi: The election of the Government and the President should not be mixed

Journalist Veton Surroi has issued several recommendations addressing what he views as ambiguities in the procedures for forming the Government and electing the President of the Republic of Kosovo. In a public statement, Surroi asserted that the parliamentary elections held on June 7th provided the Vetëvendosje Movement with a mandate to proceed with the formation of the Government, adhering to both the Constitution and the expressed will of the electorate. Surroi stated, “The parliamentary elections of June 7th gave the LVV the mandate to attempt the formation of the next Government, in accordance with the Constitution and the expressed will of the citizens.

If the partners chosen for the coalition are parties from several Albanian communities, it would be expected that there would be a quick agreement on the composition of the Government and the governing program.”

His comments suggest that the focus should now shift toward practical governance following the electoral results. The journalist indicated that the formation process should proceed smoothly, particularly if the coalition partners represent diverse Albanian communities. This implies an expectation of rapid consensus regarding the structure of the administration and the policy agenda.

The underlying theme in Surroi’s remarks is the need for clarity and adherence to constitutional norms to establish a stable executive branch, encompassing both the Government and the role of the President.
