Business Leaders Explore Increased Trade Between Albania and North Macedonia

Skopje, North Macedonia – Businesspeople and representatives from institutions in Albania and North Macedonia convened at the “Beyond Borders” economic forum to discuss strategies for bolstering regional economic cooperation. The primary goal of the discussions was to elevate trade exchange, currently at 207 million euros, to an anticipated 1 billion euros. Speaking at the forum, Albanian Ambassador to North Macedonia, Denion Meidani, underscored the importance of leveraging the two nations’ geographical proximity to foster stronger economic partnerships.

He advocated for a shift from dialogue to tangible projects and investments. Ambassador Meidani highlighted that sustainable economic development and tourism growth are contingent upon modern infrastructure. A key focus of the discussions centered on the VIII Corridor, a strategically significant project connecting the Adriatic Sea to the Black Sea.

Participants recognized the corridor’s potential to facilitate market access, reduce transportation distances, enhance security, and position both Albania and North Macedonia within a developing European economic framework. The forum aimed to translate these strategic considerations into concrete actions for the benefit of both countries.
