The Skopje Appeals Court has rendered a significant decision in the ongoing “Veles Group” case, addressing allegations of sexual abuse and the production of child exploitation materials. The court’s ruling, delivered after dismissing the defendants’ appeals, determined that their arguments were without merit. Simultaneously, the Prosecution’s appeal regarding organized crime and corruption was successfully upheld.
This verdict directly overturned the initial judgment issued by the Basic Criminal Court of Skopje. Consequently, the prison sentences for all thirteen individuals involved were substantially increased. The decision, finalized on December 25th, 2025, following a public hearing on November 13th, focused specifically on amending the criminal sanctions.
Notably, Stefan Dimovski, identified as the primary defendant in the “Child Trafficking” offense, now faces an extended sentence of 8 years and 6 months imprisonment, a rise from the previous 5 years and 6 months. Dejan Spasiq’s sentence was also adjusted, increasing from 4 years and 6 months. The Appeals Court’s actions underscore the seriousness of the charges and the importance of pursuing justice in this complex case involving the Veles Group.
