The CEC takes measures to prevent the manipulation evident in the recent elections.

CEC Implements Enhanced Oversight for Upcoming Elections

The Central Election Commission (CEC) is implementing new measures to ensure the integrity of the June 7th elections, following concerns raised regarding potential manipulation in recent processes. Addressing these concerns, CEC spokesperson Valmir Elezi announced changes to the Electoral Regulations for the Counting and Results Center. The revised regulations introduce a proactive control mechanism designed to prevent manipulations that have become evident in recent months.

A key provision allows the CEC to initiate a recount of votes within 10% of randomly selected polling stations following the acceptance of electoral materials at the Counting and Results Center. “Following the acceptance of materials, the CEC will assess the situation and, if deemed necessary, can recount votes up to 10% of the selected polling stations,” Elezi stated. This new process is intended to bolster confidence in the outcome of the elections.

The changes represent a deliberate step by the CEC to address past concerns and ensure a transparent and verifiable count. Further details regarding the implementation of this system will be released in the coming days.
