Funds Released to Blocked Municipal Election Accounts in North Macedonia

The State Election Commission (KSHZ) has announced the transfer of over 107 million denars to municipal election commissions operating in eleven municipalities. The funds are intended to support electoral administration activities following previously blocked accounts. The transfer, totaling 107,201,924.00 denars, was approved for compensation of electoral councilors and the municipal election commissions themselves.

Affected municipalities include Haraçina, Dellçevë, Struga, Pehçevë, Tetovo, Krivogashtan, Vasilëvë, Zhelina, Gostivar, Vrapçisht, and Zernovc. The allocation stems from funds designated for the 2025 Local Elections and the repeat elections scheduled for 2026. According to the KSHZ, the funds will be deposited into dedicated accounts specifically for electoral activities within each municipality.

This action addresses prior issues impacting the operational capacity of the municipal election processes. The commission’s decision underscores the importance of ensuring proper funding for the upcoming election cycle and the continued functionality of electoral bodies across North Macedonia. The move aims to facilitate effective electoral administration within these municipalities.
