The creator of “Adolescence” has ruled out the possibility of a second season: The story is finished.

Jack Thorne Confirms “Adolescence” Series Finale, Dismisses “Femisphere” Idea

Jack Thorne, the creator of the critically acclaimed Netflix series “Adolescence,” has definitively ruled out the possibility of a second season focusing on the “femisphere” concept, despite the show’s recent success at the BAFTA TV Awards. Thorne, alongside Stephen Graham, penned the original series which explored the complexities of teenage relationships. Speaking to Metro, Thorne explained his decision, stating that the Miller family narrative has reached its conclusion and any further exploration would ultimately weaken the established story.

“Any attempt to return would weaken the story we have already shown,” he asserted. While acknowledging the potential interest in a series centered around a female-oriented online community – a concept he described as a “female version of ‘manosphere’ ” – Thorne indicated he wasn’t the appropriate writer to tackle the theme. “But I really hope someone makes a show about it,” he added.

The comments arrive as “Adolescence” continues to garner attention. Thorne’s firm stance signals the end of the road for the initial series and shifts the focus to the possibility of another creative team pursuing the “femisphere” concept.
