Acting President Albulena Haxhiu has addressed ongoing concerns regarding the appointment of the tenth member to the Electoral College. Following claims from the LDK and PDK parties concerning the vacant position, Haxhiu clarified the College’s operational structure, which currently comprises nine members designated by political parties. Kreshnik Radoniqi, the chairman, is currently serving as the tenth member.
Haxhiu stated that all relevant legal deadlines for appointments have elapsed, and she has not yet determined whether a decision will be made regarding the additional member. “Given that deadlines for appointing one member have also passed, I will treat this with the highest seriousness,” Haxhiu explained. She indicated that information received suggests no immediate risk to the functioning of the electoral College due to the vacancy.
Haxhiu affirmed she will proceed with caution, exercising her responsibilities as she deems necessary. The acting president emphasized a desire to fully understand the potential impact of the incomplete membership on the Electoral College’s operations. Further updates are anticipated as the situation develops.
