Kosovo’s acting Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, has publicly stated that the ongoing dialogue process with Serbia has not stalled or failed. Speaking during a debate on the show “Politiko,” Kurti emphasized that while the process has resulted in several agreements, the primary obstacle remains Belgrade’s alleged failure to implement the terms already established. Kurti argued that the dialogue has maintained a path toward success, noting that the resulting framework, although imperfect, provides a substantial basis for future progress.
He contended that the issue is not the lack of accords, but rather Serbia’s alleged non-adherence to them. “The dialogue has not died. It has been successful and has resulted in agreements,” Kurti stated.
He further asserted that Serbia is allegedly violating the agreed terms on a daily basis. Addressing the process’s reception, Kurti mentioned that he accepted the current agreement, describing it as a solid foundation for advancement. He suggested that the reluctance to formalize the understanding might have surprised Belgrade, as he reportedly indicated his acceptance, which they then allegedly failed to ratify through signing.
The statements maintain a clear demarcation of responsibility, placing the onus for stagnation on Belgrade. Kurti’s assertion suggests that despite the existence of an agreement, the commitment from the Serbian side is undermining any potential breakthrough in bilateral relations.
