On the day KosovaPress and Liri Lajme headquarters were attacked, alongside Kosovo itself, a serious escalation occurred on March 27th, 1999. Two Serbian fighter planes launched a targeted assault on the KosovaPress news agency and the Liri Radio station situated in the village of Berishe. This devastating event resulted in the tragic death of Elbasan Jakup Berisha, a 16-year-old individual.
Furthermore, the attack caused injuries to two parents and six other family members present at the location. The preceding day, similar actions had taken place. Two Yugoslav Mig 21 aircraft, at 8:20 AM, directly targeted the former headquarters of the Head of the General Staff of the UÇK, Jakup Krasniqi, in Klecke.
The operation unfolded in the village of Berishe, where Kosovapress and Liri Lajme, along with the two informational institutions of the General Staff of the UÇK, were located. The aircraft swiftly evacuated the area following the attack. This day marked a significant and deeply concerning development in the ongoing conflict.
