The matter of the president, Kurti: If we go to elections, we will lose at least ten million euros

Kosovo Prime Minister Warns of Significant Financial Losses Following Potential New Elections

Prishtina, Kosovo – Prime Minister Albin Kurti stated that holding new elections in Kosovo would result in at least 10 million euros being spent on organizational costs by the Central Election Commission. The statement was made following the inauguration of renovations at the Cardiology Clinic. Kurti asserted that the Liberal Demokrat Party (LDK) and the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) are currently not prepared or interested in reaching agreements necessary for political stability.

He expressed concern that new elections would trigger a cycle of repeated votes, ultimately leading to substantial financial losses for the state. “If new elections are held, at least 10 million euros will be spent on their organization by the CEC,” Kurti explained. “Furthermore, without a functioning Assembly, we anticipate tens of millions of euros in losses for the state.

A series of new elections would create an unending loop, potentially requiring further elections and ultimately failing to establish a stable government, particularly given the current parliamentary composition.”

The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of finding a viable path forward, acknowledging the challenges of securing a majority within the existing 80-member Assembly. The potential impact of new elections on the state budget remains a key point of contention within Kosovo’s political landscape.
