Albulena Haxhiu, the incumbent president of Kosovo, expressed a desire for a peaceful transition of power, stating the country cannot afford to lose time. She hopes the next president will be elected within the constitutional timeframe, otherwise she will be compelled to announce new elections. On April 7th, Haxhiu had indicated a willingness to assist in resolving the presidential impasse.
Following a meeting of the presidency on April 8th, she clarified that as Speaker of the Assembly, she is prepared to contribute by organizing meetings and discussions with parliamentary groups, should they deem such engagement necessary. Haxhiu indicated a commitment to continuing the dialogue that had previously taken place. She stated the hope is to move forward expeditiously and avoid further delays in the process.
