The MP for VV: The opposition is waiting for April 28th to take the country to elections.

Vetëvendosje MP Accuses Parties of Stalling Presidential Election Process

Debar, Albania – Vetëvendosje (Self-Determination) Member of Parliament Driton Hyseni has criticized the current political developments in the country, alleging a lack of commitment from parties to reach an agreement on electing a new president. Speaking on Debat Plus, Hyseni accused the opposition of deliberately maneuvering the process towards new elections. Since the failed session to elect the president on March 5th, the political landscape has entered a period of deadlock.

Following the inability to convene a session, the formal procedure for electing a president commenced. Hyseni noted a subsequent escalation, with some parties seemingly anticipating and celebrating the upcoming deadline for scheduled elections. “Since March 5, when we were unable to hold the session, we began the procedure for the election of the president.

Also the escalation that we had from the president and the great joy of other parties. As if they are waiting for the elections,” Hyseni stated. He further asserted that certain parties are focused on achieving the April 27th and 28th deadline for elections, suggesting a deliberate strategy.

The comments highlight ongoing tensions within the country as parties grapple with the path forward in the presidential election process.
