Fitore Pacolli, the acting Minister of Environment and Spatial Planning, has issued urgent directives concerning municipal waste management. The Minister announced that new regulations prohibit the overflow of refuse containers in public areas, including streets, schools, parks, and playgrounds. Furthermore, the uncontrolled accumulation of waste on high-traffic urban thoroughfares is strictly forbidden.
These regulations specifically target commercial entities, including the gastronomy sector, bakeries, and markets, along with any other establishments involved in processing or selling food. Pacolli emphasized that immediate action is required to mitigate public health risks associated with improper disposal. In response, the Minister has ordered comprehensive cleaning, disinfection, and deratization services for all areas identified as sites of waste dumping.
Municipalities have been granted a seven-day deadline to implement these necessary improvements and ensure compliance across their jurisdictions. The directive underscores the need for stricter oversight in urban sanitation practices. Failure to adhere to these new standards for waste handling and disposal will result in penalties, according to the Ministry.
The goal of these measures is to establish a standardized and sanitary system for waste management throughout the city.
