Kosovo Police Seizes Weapons in Zubin Potok Area

The Kosovo Police announced on April 19, 2026, that it had discovered and seized a substantial quantity of weapons during patrols conducted in the Zubin Potok area. The incidents occurred on April 18, 2026. In the first instance, police units located an assault weapon equipped with a bayonet, alongside a variety of caliber bullets, uniforms, and items bearing a Serbian state logo, at a residential house in the village of Luka Reka, near Paljevë.

A second incident was reported later that day. Police subsequently seized additional weapons and ammunition in a separate operation within Zubin Potok. Head of Regional Operational Planning in Mitrovica, Erduan Baliqi, indicated that the discovery of weapons in abandoned properties within the northern region has become a recurring pattern.

“The police have seized weapons and ammunition in two cases,” Baliqi stated. The ongoing operation highlights continued efforts by the Kosovo Police to address the presence of firearms. Investigations are underway regarding the origin and ownership of the recovered weapons, which include items displaying a Serbian affiliation.

The police continue to monitor the area following these discoveries.
