The Parliament is asked about Osman: The president should be a consensus figure, the focus is not on names

Albin Kurti, leader of the Vetëvendosje Movement, stated that discussions with Vjosa Osmani and LDK leader Lumir Abdixhiku did not involve concrete names for the future president of Kosovo. Instead, the conversation focused on the principles and methodology required to build the necessary consensus for the election. When directly asked about whether a new mandate for Vjosa Osmani was discussed, Kurti refrained from commenting on specific individuals, maintaining that the current focus remains on overarching concepts and political vision.

Kurti emphasized that, according to his view of the Constitution, the ideal president must represent the unity of the people and, therefore, must be consensual. “We are interested in having the maximum possible number of deputies who will remain in the hall,” he stated. He further elaborated that achieving this broad support is paramount.

Kurti also referenced historical precedents to support his argument regarding the need for unity in the selection process. The remarks underscore a commitment to a broad political consensus rather than endorsing any single candidate at this stage.
