A proposal concerning the naming of 67 streets within Tetovë was officially withdrawn from the agenda during the Communal Council session. The decision to withdraw the item passed with a vote of 20 in favor, receiving no votes against and no abstentions. Later in the proceedings, only Berat Murati, the coordinator for the BDI group of councilors, returned to the session, after other members of his party had previously departed.
Following a considerable debate among the councilors, the body ultimately decided to redirect the matter back to the dedicated Commission for Street Naming. The commission has reportedly been active on this issue for several years, and documentation presented during the session noted that two public debates had already been conducted regarding the process. During the proceedings, the Mayor of Tetovë, Bilall Kasami, addressed the discussion, stating that the BDI’s initial proposal was deemed incorrect.
He further indicated that the established procedure for renaming streets currently requires adherence to specific protocols. The councilors’ decision to defer the matter suggests a procedural review is necessary before any further action can be taken on the extensive list of street names.
