The Kosovo Assembly continues to be without defined actions regarding the selection of a new president. Yesterday, the Vetëvendosje parliamentary group convened for roughly two hours within the Assembly building. The immediate concern wasn’t the pressing matter of the president’s position, but rather a different issue entirely.
Deputy Artan Abrashi explained, “The Assembly of Kosovo has reverted to its standard operations, operating within the framework of our regular activities… not presently the issue of the president, as it has returned to requiring discussion with political parties. Our efforts will continue.” Despite earlier warnings from Mayor Kastrioti Kurt regarding his intention to convene his party for a discussion on the president’s situation, this action has not occurred. Abrashi asserts that the opposition bears responsibility for this standstill.
He stated, “Whenever we will observe a favorable indication that…”. The lack of concrete steps toward electing a new president remains a significant challenge for the Assembly.
