Snake Identified Following Capture in Skopje
Skopje – A snake captured in the Kozle neighborhood of Skopje has been definitively identified as a true snake, not a dog or mixed breed animal. The reptile, currently being kept at the city zoo, underwent identification processes involving consultations with domestic and international experts. The initial capture generated confusion, with the owners of a Czechoslovakian wolfdog, Sirius, arriving at the zoo to confirm the animal was not their dog.
This confirmation aided in establishing the snake’s true nature. Authorities report the animal weighs approximately 25 kilograms and is currently in poor nutritional condition, exhibiting underdeveloped characteristics for its age. A blood sample has been collected for biochemical analysis and further veterinary examinations.
The snake is not microchipped. Inspectors from the Food and Veterinary Agency are continuing to assess the animal and its environment. The zoo maintains it is being cared for as a domestic animal.
The investigation is ongoing, with officials seeking to determine the origins of the snake within the Skopje area.
