The water park, which operates within the “Boris Trajkovski” Sports Center in Skopje, will not be operational this summer season. According to director Daniel Apostolovski, the facility requires a comprehensive renovation due to its current poor condition, as reported by SDK.mk. Apostolovski indicated that the reconstruction of the entire water park necessitates an investment of approximately one million euros; however, sufficient financial resources for such an undertaking are not currently available.
He clarified that the center’s immediate focus for renovation efforts will be directed toward the main pool area. The water park officially ceased operations in 2024. A review report from the sports center attributed this closure to a combination of factors, citing insufficient economic profitability alongside the expiration of the equipment’s ten-year warranty period.
Financially, the facility faced challenges, with revenues recorded in 2023 totaling only 4.29 million denars, marking a significant decrease compared to prior performance. The closure of the recreational water park has prompted discussions regarding its future viability. While the facility remains a key attraction within the Skopje sporting complex, the necessary capital expenditure for modernization presents a significant hurdle.
The management is reportedly prioritizing the refurbishment of existing structures while addressing the structural and mechanical deficiencies that necessitated the temporary shutdown of the water park.
