The Strumica Police have initiated legal proceedings against J.T. (53), a resident of Strumica, based on suspicion of extortion. The investigation centers around an alleged scheme operating between 2023 and 2025.
The accused is believed to have taken advantage of the precarious financial circumstances of numerous individuals within Strumica. She offered loans at exorbitant interest rates, illicitly accumulating substantial material gains. A particular man repeatedly borrowed funds from her, ultimately failing to meet the demanding repayment terms.
Following this inability to pay, the accused allegedly commenced issuing threats directed at the victim and her family, escalating the situation significantly. On February 26, 2026, police officers encountered the accused near the victim’s residence. During this meeting, a 100 euro note was discovered in the victim’s possession, a sum that had previously undergone forensic analysis, as reported by MPB.
