Kosovo Parliament Approves Three CEFTA Protocols
PRISHTINA – The Government of Kosovo has finalized the approval of three Central European Free Trade Agreement (CEFTA) protocols, marking a significant step for the nation’s trade relations. The draft laws, encompassing Protocol Supplement 6 for trade in services, Protocol Supplement 5 for adherence and amendment of the agreement, and Protocol Supplement 7 for dispute resolution, were ratified by the Kosovo Parliament. Minister of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade, Mimoza Kusari-Lila, stated that this approval represents a key milestone for Kosovo.
She emphasized that the legislation’s passage signifies the first time the CEFTA protocols will be approved by the Kosovo Parliament without the oversight of UNMIK. The three protocols are expected to bolster economic cooperation within the Central European region. The agreements aim to facilitate trade and investment opportunities, furthering Kosovo’s integration into regional markets.
This development underscores Kosovo’s increasing autonomy and strengthens its position within the CEFTA framework. Further details regarding the implementation of these protocols are expected to be released in the coming weeks.
