Two Arrested Following Moped Accidents in North Macedonia
The Ministry of Interior of North Macedonia has reported the arrest of two individuals following traffic accidents involving mopeds. Both incidents occurred while the drivers were reportedly under the influence of alcohol. On May 12, 2026, at approximately 12:00 PM, the Shën Nikollë Border Police (NJPB) received a report of a collision involving a moped and a pedestrian in Shën Nikollë.
The moped, registered with Shën Nikollë plates and driven by N.D. (18) from Shën Nikollë, collided with 69-year-old U.Ç. from the same location.
As a result of the impact, U.Ç. sustained serious bodily injuries and was transported to the Shtip Clinical Hospital. Following the incident, N.D.
was taken into custody. Police determined he was operating the moped without a valid driver’s license during the examination by the NJPB Shën Nikollë investigative team. He is currently being held pending formal charges.
Separately, a second incident occurred in Kumanovë. Details regarding this event are currently under investigation. Authorities confirmed that both drivers were found to be under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accidents.
The investigation is ongoing.
