The Commission for Energy Regulation and Energy (KRrE) has approved a subsidy to support the purchase of electricity for combined heat and power (CHP) production facilities in North Macedonia. The decision, issued by the Ministry of Public Utilities and Energy, aims to bolster the efficiency and sustainability of these operations. The subsidy will cover electricity costs associated with generating both heat and electricity simultaneously.

This approach, known as CHP, is recognized for its improved energy utilization and reduced environmental impact compared to generating heat and electricity separately. KRrE’s action reflects a broader strategy to encourage the adoption of CHP technology within the country. The initiative seeks to optimize energy resources and contribute to Macedonia’s overall energy security.

Details regarding the specific allocation and criteria for receiving the subsidy are currently being finalized. Further information will be released by the Ministry of Public Utilities and Energy.
