Vulaj: Kosovo in NATO, a US national security interest

US Maintains Support for Kosovo’s NATO Membership, Says Council Leader

Prishtina, Kosovo – According to Martin Vulaj, President of the Albanian-American Council, there is a consistent political stance within the United States regarding Kosovo. Speaking on the “Info Magazine” program on March 3, 2026, Vulaj highlighted the enduring support for Kosovo across both major American political parties, despite heightened political divisions within the US and Europe. Vulaj emphasized that Kosovo continues to represent an area of bipartisan agreement.

“Even amidst current political polarization, Kosovo remains a shared focus for collaboration,” he stated. He attributed this to the strategic importance of Kosovo’s membership in NATO. The primary rationale for continued US support, according to Vulaj, is the alignment with national security interests.

He argued that maintaining stability and security in the Western Balkans, specifically through Kosovo’s participation in NATO, remains a key priority for the United States. Vulaj’s comments reflect a long-standing position within the Albanian-American community and underscore the continued relevance of Kosovo’s relationship with the United States.
