Vetëvendosje Urges Diaspora to Register to Vote in Upcoming Elections
Prishtina – The Vetëvendosje Movement (VV) has announced a campaign to encourage Kosovar diaspora individuals to register and participate in the upcoming elections. The movement is urging all eligible diaspora citizens to register to vote by mail, through designated embassies and consulates, and will release the registration link tomorrow, May 6th, 2026. The deadline for registration will be May 17th, 2026.
VV stated that despite previous efforts and proposals, the opposition has consistently rejected opportunities for broader participation in the electoral process. The movement contends that the country is entering an electoral process following a period where the voices of the diaspora and the general population were not heeded. “You spoke clearly in the last elections, just like the entire people of Kosovo, but this old political nomenclature will not listen,” a VV statement read.
The movement intends to utilize this opportunity to ensure greater representation of the diaspora within the electoral system. The initiative aims to facilitate the ability for the diaspora to register and vote, allowing them to contribute to the democratic process. The movement emphasizes the importance of all eligible citizens to register and participate.
