Skopje Drinking Water Confirmed Safe Following Extensive Testing
Skopje authorities have announced that drinking water supplies, including Ujësjellës and Kanalizime systems, are safe for public consumption following recent seasonal analyses. The announcement follows the publication of a report detailing the quality and safety of the city’s drinking water, compiled by the Sanitary Control Sector. Between April 27 and April 30, 2026, the sector conducted a comprehensive testing program.
A total of 294 samples – 147 for physico-chemical analyses and 147 for microbiological analyses – were collected from 39 distinct measuring points across Skopje. The results, aligned with the Regulation for requirements for the safety and quality of drinking water (Official Gazette of the Republic of North Macedonia, No. 183/18), confirmed that all water samples met established standards.
This ongoing monitoring program, involving regular analyses, ensures the safety of the water supply for Skopje citizens. The Sanitary Control Sector’s reports are periodically released to provide transparency and information regarding the quality of the water.
