“We don’t know who to trust,” why did it have a visible drop in votes in the July 7 elections?

Voter turnout remained a significant concern following the recent elections in Kosovo. Data indicates a marked decrease in citizen participation when comparing the latest electoral cycle to previous polls. In the most recent election data provided, only 36.88 percent of eligible voters participated in the Kosovo Assembly elections.

This figure represents a notable drop compared to the 44.99 percent turnout recorded during the elections held on October 28, 2025. For the specific elections mentioned, 2,092,174 Kosovo citizens were eligible to cast a vote. Of this total, 1,959,962 individuals were registered to vote in a Kosovo municipality.

However, the number of citizens who ultimately decided to vote was 712,148, marking the lowest participation rate recorded across two rounds of elections held in 2025. Furthermore, calculations concerning the June 7 elections suggest that over 1,247,814 citizens in Kosovo chose not to vote. This substantial number of non-voters reflects a significant level of public disengagement from the political process.

The low turnout across these recent elections suggests that a considerable segment of the population may have conveyed a message regarding their dissatisfaction with the current political landscape and the outcomes of the elections.
