Iranian football players participating in the upcoming World Cup have reportedly received the necessary visas to enter the United States, according to a White House official. This confirmation arrives just ten days before the team is scheduled to play its first match in Los Angeles. The logistical journey for the Iranian squad involved recent adjustments.
Earlier on Friday, the Iranian Ambassador to Mexico, Abolfazl Pasandideh, indicated that the team had not yet secured their American visas. However, he later confirmed that the necessary documentation was issued that same evening. Due to complications surrounding the visas, the team made a last-minute relocation, moving its base from Arizona to Tijuana, Mexico.
The players are expected to land in Tijuana early Sunday morning. The Iranian national team’s competitive schedule remains set for the Los Angeles area. They are scheduled to participate in their Group G match on June 15 against New Zealand.
Following this fixture, the team is slated to face Belgium, with a subsequent match against Egypt scheduled to take place in Seattle. The confirmation of the visas allows the team to proceed with its preparations for the World Cup tournament.
