Ymeri: I will not vote for Albin Kurti as prime minister, even if the LDK reaches an agreement with the LVV

Janina Ymeri, a candidate for deputy representing the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), has publicly stated that she would withhold her support for Albin Kurti assuming the role of Prime Minister. This position remains firm even in the event that a broader political agreement is established with the Vetëvendosje Movement following the June 7 elections. Speaking during an “Election Interview” conducted by KosovaPress, the former LDK deputy issued a clear declaration against a government led by Kurti, specifying that her personal vote would not endorse such a cabinet formation.

However, Ymeri did indicate that the political landscape remains open to discussion regarding alternative groupings. She suggested that a potential coalition involving the Democratic Party of Kosovo and the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo could be considered for discussion, though she emphasized that the final decision on such arrangements rests with the respective party structures. The statements underscore a division within the political calculus, as Ymeri’s refusal to cast a supporting vote for Kurti sets a definitive boundary on her political alignment.

Her comments suggest that while she acknowledges the need for coalition building, her endorsement is contingent upon specific political frameworks that exclude the current leadership structure.
