14 people arrested in Tirana, suspected of distributing drugs near schools

The police department in Tirana concluded a major operation, code-named “Segment,” aimed at dismantling an organized criminal network. The investigation focused on individuals suspected of being involved in the illegal distribution of narcotics across various sectors of the capital city, with particular attention paid to areas near primary and secondary schools. During the execution of the security measures, authorities successfully apprehended sixteen individuals.

This initial group comprised fourteen male citizens and one female citizen, all of whom are suspected of membership within the criminal organization. Furthermore, police sources indicated that five additional persons remain at large and are currently the subject of ongoing efforts to locate and apprehend. The scope of the operation revealed multiple illegal activities beyond drug trafficking.

During investigative controls, law enforcement arrested one male citizen found in possession of a firearm pistol and associated ammunition. Additionally, police discovered and secured premises that were being utilized for the organization of illegal gambling operations. The operation underscores a sustained police effort to curb organized crime within Tirana.

Authorities continue to process the detained individuals and are working to solidify the evidence gathered to dismantle the suspected distribution network completely.
