The Kosovo Police conducted enforcement operations over the weekend in the Gjakova region as part of the “Vera 2026” operational plan, focusing on enhancing road traffic safety. During these activities, the police addressed several instances involving motorists. In one reported incident in Gjakova, two vehicle drivers were intercepted for participating in speed contests.
A local driver, holding a Kosovo driver’s license, was issued a fine of 500 euros. This individual also incurred five negative points and preventive measures, including a 12-month driving suspension across Kosovo. A second driver, possessing a foreign license, was fined 1,000 euros, a penalty that was doubled following a request from the driver.
Separately, in the village of Llazicë within the Malisheva area, the police stopped a driver who was operating a vehicle at an excessive speed of 195 km/h. These actions underscore the police’s ongoing commitment to maintaining order and safety on Kosovo’s roadways. The enforcement measures target unsafe driving behaviors, aiming to deter reckless conduct among all drivers and improve overall traffic compliance throughout the region.
