20 years of IPK, institutions evaluate the role in supervising the Police

The Kosovo Police Inspectorate commemorated its 20th anniversary with a ceremony that emphasized the institution’s commitment to professional duty and accountability. During the event, officials reiterated that maintaining accountability standards does not diminish the effectiveness of the police force. A documentary titled “Who Guards the Guards – 20 Years of the KPI” was screened, providing a comprehensive look at the organization’s two-decade history.

Albulena Haxhiu, the acting President of Kosovo, addressed the gathering, highlighting the critical mandate of the KPI. She noted that the inspectorate was founded with the complex responsibility of ensuring that law enforcement personnel operate strictly within the confines of the law. Haxhiu described this function as one of the most challenging duties for any democratic state.

The anniversary proceedings underscored the importance of internal oversight within the police structure of Kosovo. The focus remained on the necessity of maintaining legal adherence among those tasked with protecting citizens. The ceremony served to acknowledge the twenty years of service provided by the institution while reaffirming its commitment to upholding the rule of law within Kosovo.

The event reinforced the principle that robust oversight is integral to the integrity and operational strength of the police service in the country.
