40 cases of fruit in Kosovo, four new ones this week

The National Institute of Public Health of Kosovo (IKShPK) has issued a report confirming a total of 40 measles cases within Kosovo spanning the period from April 16 to June 22, 2026. The data indicates that four new cases were specifically reported during the most recent week of the reporting period. According to the statistics published by IKShPK, the geographical distribution of the cases shows varying levels of incidence across municipalities.

Ferizaj recorded the highest number of infections with 11 cases. Pristina followed with 9 cases, while Kaçanik reported 6 cases. Additional cases have been reported in Lushnjë-Kosovo, which accounted for 3 infections.

Furthermore, five other municipalities—Lipjan, Vushtrri, Shtimja, and Obiliq—each had 2 cases reported. Finally, one case was registered in each of the municipalities of Gjilan, Drenica, and Deçan. In light of these confirmed measles cases, IKShPK has issued public health advisories for the citizens of Kosovo.

The institute advises that any individual presenting with symptoms such as high fever, skin rash, cough, runny nose, or conjunctivitis should seek immediate medical evaluation. Residents are urged to present themselves promptly at designated healthcare facilities for proper diagnosis and management. The continuous monitoring of these reported cases remains a priority for public health authorities in the region.
