700 Pristina students attend free swimming courses at Gërmis Pool

The Municipality of Pristina has launched a free summer swimming initiative, providing courses for 700 students from public schools at the Gërmis Pool. The development of this educational and recreational program was overseen by the Pristina Mayor, Përparim Rama, and other municipal officials. According to Deputy Mayor Besiana Musmurati, the objective of the initiative is twofold: to equip local youth with an essential life skill through swimming instruction and to promote overall physical activity within the community.

The program was spearheaded by the Director of Education, Arjani Elshani, and the Director of Sport, Granit G. Geci. Addressing the community, Elshani emphasized the broader value of the lessons, stating that swimming “is not just a sport.

It is a life skill that increases children’s safety, self-confidence, and well-being.”

The free access to aquatic lessons represents a key public welfare effort in Pristina. By making swimming accessible to a large number of students, the municipal leadership aims to enhance the quality of life for the city’s youth. The continuous support from the mayor’s office and relevant departments underscores the commitment to preventative health measures and youth development through structured, recreational learning programs.

This initiative highlights the municipality’s focus on integrating essential life skills into the educational experience.
