The President of the Republic of Albania, Ilir Meta, said that the country is facing a social crisis, and that the government should take measures to address the situation, including providing pensions and social benefits.

President Bajrami responded to recent criticisms regarding economic conditions and pension levels by announcing his intention to engage directly with the public on social media. In a statement, Bajrami stated he would utilize Facebook and Twitter to address concerns. He indicated he would fulfill his tax obligations and also intends to secure a retirement pension at an elevated level.

This response follows President Bajrami’s prior comments regarding what he perceives as “major work,” specifically referencing the energy sector, low wages, and inadequate pension levels. These remarks led to criticism, prompting Bajrami’s planned social media engagement. PDK Vice-Chairwoman Vlora Çitaku addressed the President’s announcement, stating she would respond to his declaration.

She referenced Bajrami’s previous statements concerning “unaffordable basic prices,” “organized crime in the energy sector,” and the impact of low wages on worker poverty, as well as the issue of insufficient pensions.
