North Macedonia Celebrates 30 Years of EU Partnership

Tirana, North Macedonia – First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for European Affairs, Bekim Sali, addressed an audience today marking the 30th anniversary of the relationship between North Macedonia and the European Union. The event, attended by EU Ambassador Michalis Rokas, underscored the continued strategic importance of the partnership. Sali highlighted the extensive history of collaboration, noting that the relationship spans 30 years and 25 years since the signing of the Stabilization and Association Agreement.

He affirmed that European integration remains a core priority for North Macedonia. Following the completion of the screening process, the government’s focus is now directed towards accelerating necessary reforms. “Thirty years of partnership and 25 years since the Stabilization and Association Agreement demonstrate that our European path is clear and irreversible,” Sali stated.

“Today, integration is not just a goal – it is a process of delivering concrete results.”

The Deputy Prime Minister referenced ongoing initiatives, including the Reform Agenda and the Growth Plan, emphasizing the country’s progress in key areas. Specifically, he cited advancements within the rule of law and administration as demonstrable achievements within the framework of the European partnership. The anniversary served as a reaffirmation of North Macedonia’s commitment to continued progress within the European Union.
