Millions of euros unpaid for the pensions of Trepça miners

At the Stantërgut Mine, a veteran worker, Fehmi Meha, continues his duties operating a heavy machine after more than forty years in the industry. Since 1983, Meha has served as a master machine operator at the Trepça complex. While his daily routine involves the physical labor associated with mining operations, his primary concern now centers on his financial security upon retirement.

According to reports from Europa e Lirë, the 64-year-old worker is nearing his final working year, but his focus has shifted from the physical demands of his job to the stability of his savings. Meha expressed significant worry regarding the consistent payment of his pension contributions. He stated that the employer has reportedly failed to remit these required payments on a regular basis for more than six years.

The accumulated shortfall represents a substantial financial concern for Meha. He estimates the outstanding debt related to his pension contributions to exceed 5,000 euros. This situation highlights a broader issue concerning the financial planning and adherence to contribution schedules for long-term industrial workers.

Despite his decades of dedicated service operating complex machinery, Meha faces uncertainty about receiving the full benefits accrued for his planned retirement.

  1. It’s concerning to read about unpaid pensions for workers who have dedicated decades to the industry.
