Application opens for STEM scholarships for students studying science

The Ministry of Education and Science has issued a public announcement inviting applications for scholarships targeting students enrolled in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields at public higher education institutions across Kosovo. This initiative underscores the Ministry’s commitment to bolstering national development through advanced academic training. The scholarship program is specifically designed to promote the active participation of young women and girls within STEM disciplines.

Officials stated that increasing female representation in these critical sectors is viewed as a vital component of enhancing academic and professional empowerment within the country. According to the guidelines released, eligibility is restricted to bachelor’s level students. Applicants must be newly registered for the 2025/2026 academic year in a recognized STEM program at a public university in Kosovo.

Furthermore, a minimum academic requirement dictates that candidates must have successfully completed at least two first-semester examinations. The announcement also indicated that the call aims to particularly support students originating from specific communities, thereby broadening access to high-quality higher education. By focusing resources on science and technology, the Ministry aims to cultivate a skilled workforce capable of driving innovation.

This targeted support mechanism seeks to improve the overall quality and breadth of the national STEM pipeline, solidifying the foundational role of advanced education in Kosovo’s future economic trajectory.
