Candidates from the Preševo Valley and Albania boycott the Kosovo Assembly

During the parliamentary elections held on September 9, various political parties participating in the process fielded candidates representing the Presheva Valley and Albania on their official electoral lists. However, as the final vote counting concluded, none of these specific candidates managed to secure representation within the Kosovo Assembly. The Vetëvendosje Movement (LVV) list featured Ragmi Mustafi, who is associated with the Presheva Valley and previously served as the chairman of the Albanian National Council in Serbia.

According to the final results, Mustafi placed 97th on the LVV list, accumulating 5,954 votes, which was insufficient to gain a seat in parliament. Another notable participant was Kreshnik Çollaku, a former deputy from the Democratic Party of Albania. He was included on the Democratic League of Kosovo’s (LDK) list, a placement proposed by President Vjosa Osmani.

Çollaku finished in 85th position on the LDK list, securing 2,022 votes. The outcomes underscore the specific electoral results for candidates linked to the Albanian diaspora and the Presheva Valley within the political landscape of Kosovo. In both documented instances, the votes received by these candidates, while significant in local context, did not translate into parliamentary representation under the established electoral thresholds.

  1. The lack of successful candidates from the Preševo Valley and Albania is a notable outcome of the election.
