Agron Llugaliu, the Director General of Customs of Kosovo, recently attended the Thirtieth Conference of Directors General of Customs of the Western Balkans and European Union Member States held in Athens. The central theme of the conference focused on “Market Linkage and Standardization: Green Lanes as a Pillar of Advanced Integration into the European Single Market.”

As a key participant, Llugaliu served as a panelist during a session addressing critical areas for modern trade facilitation. The discussion encompassed Green Lanes initiatives, improving interoperability among CEFTA countries, the role of Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) Partnerships, and advanced risk management strategies within the customs sector.

During the proceedings, Llugaliu provided insights into the evolving nature of regional trade governance. He stressed that the cooperative efforts within the customs community have matured significantly. Specifically, he noted that the focus of regional collaboration has successfully transitioned beyond merely achieving regulatory harmonization.

Instead, the current emphasis is on the concrete, operational implementation of these standards across member states. The participation of Llugaliu at this major conference underscored the commitment of Kosovo to deepening its integration efforts within the broader European trade framework. The discussions at the conference highlighted actionable pathways for strengthening border management and streamlining cross-border commerce through standardized, efficient customs procedures.
