Gërvalla: We are talking with the USA also about gas, but we base the decisions on Kosovo’s interest

The acting Minister of Justice, Donika Gërvalla, confirmed that the government is currently engaged in discussions with the United States concerning issues related to natural gas. However, she clarified that the topic of gas is one among several matters being addressed with allied nations, all structured around the interests of Kosovo. Gërvalla elaborated that the discussions extend beyond energy resources.

She stated that the government engages in talks covering numerous security topics with all allied partners, not limited solely to the US. She emphasized that over the past five years, Kosovo has demonstrated that its decision-making process is conducted with significant responsibility and seriousness, always prioritizing national interests. In a separate comment regarding domestic politics, Gërvalla, who serves as chairwoman of the “GUXO” party within the “Vetëvendosje” coalition, addressed the stance of the Democratic League of Kosovo.

She asserted that any future governing coalition must make the implementation of the American gas project a prerequisite. Her comments highlighted that the agreement concerning the gas infrastructure is viewed as a critical component for any stable governing arrangement. The Minister further noted that discussions are happening about various facets of national security, and these talks also encompass broader geopolitical considerations with multiple international allies.
