Mickoski: Markets lower prices, or we will use the Government’s mechanisms

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Christian Mickoski, has publicly called on producers, marketers, and distributors to implement reductions in the costs associated with essential foodstuffs. Mickoski stated that a correction in the pricing of basic food products is necessary, asserting that market participants must now adjust their pricing strategies for the benefit of consumers. The Prime Minister indicated that if price reductions are not observed, he intends to publish the names and surnames of the responsible parties starting the following day.

He emphasized that the current market pricing structure requires immediate attention, noting that comparisons will be drawn between local rates and those observed in neighboring regions and other domestic markets for these basic goods. When questioned by a journalist regarding the expected outcomes of an upcoming meeting with trade representatives concerning these price adjustments, Mickoski suggested that the overall economic crisis is in a phase of decline. He indicated that the responsibility for stabilization and necessary changes in the market now rests with the commercial sector itself.

The focus remains on ensuring that the cost of basic products aligns with regional standards and consumer affordability.
